365 ~ 2013: Day 83
About 6 years ago, my cousin and I began a tradition as a way to plan ahead some time to hang out. At the time I was living in Philadelphia and taking care of a newborn. Every 15 weeks (give or take!) we meet up, have lunch (or dinner depending on the timing!) and head to the salon and get our hair done! Sometimes we'll even throw in a little shopping. I look forward to this day because as a mother it's not often that you get time just for yourself and it's nice to know that no matter how busy each of us gets within our lives, we always have these days set aside to hang!
Yesterday was, what I have since dubbed, our "Beautification Day". We go to the ECO Salon in Londonderry, so if you're every looking for a new place to go, I highly recommend this salon! I always leave feeling like a million bucks! Anyway, afterwards since our hair was already being done I decided to book some of my studio time that came with my membership at SOPHA, so that I could practice with the lighting equipment! As much as I would love to take the boys down here to get some great portraits, using one of the many different backgrounds and props, I am still learning and working on getting more efficient setting up all the gear. So I asked my cousin if she would be my model!
We had a lot of fun last night and got some great shots. I can already see some mistakes and things to work on and I have a couple questions I'll ask the next time I am in the studio but overall it was a success. I was able to set up the equipment and meter it correctly and I didn't break anything, so that is good! Here is my favorite shot from the night. It's a real genuine smile and that is why I love it!

365 ~ 2013: Day 82
David's first recital. He played a song called Spanish Guitars. I asked him if he wanted to bring his book on stage and he said "No Mom, I got this!". He was so confident and played his song perfectly. I was one proud Momma today!

365 ~ 2013: Day 81
The boys wanted to go outside to play outside, but I needed to get dinner started. We live on a cul-de-sac in the back of a large neighborhood so we get very little traffic our way. This is something I have been looking forward to since we bought this house, but up until now I did not feel like Evan would understand to stay in the yard. I feel like he's ready now, (he is almost 3) and he really wanted to play outside with his brothers.
I asked David to help me out by keeping an eye on him for me and sent them on their way. I can see them from the window just outside the kitchen and when I went to check on them I saw David was helping Evan on his big boy bike. I quickly grabbed my camera and in super stealth mode, opened the front door to capture this sweet moment!

365 ~ 2013: Day 61
Today the theme is favorite and my family is my favorite. I had gotten up to grab some more milk for the boys but couldn't resist grabbing my camera instead to capture this moment. It's very rare for us to not eat all together at the table at least one meal a day. It's a tradition that I hold very dear and something that I will strive to continue for years to come.

365 ~ 2013: Day 60
I Heart Faces is doing another month long photo challenge for March. I did their December challenge and it was a lot of fun. These challenges are great if you're ever looking for inspiration and when you're doing a 365 project like I am it's very easy to get into a funk! Today is the first day and today's theme is ME (introduce yourself).
Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE being photographed, however it's a whole different ball game when you have to take a self portrait. It's awkward and you have to hope that the focus is right. Today I also added in my off camera flash, mostly so I could play around with the set up some more.
So here is the result. Just me, no make-up, my hair tossed up in a clip and in my normal every day attire of jeans and a tee. Me!
