The boys started back up at swimming last week and today David got to learn the flip turn today. He was so close to getting it. Not bad for his first go around!

365 ~ 2016: Day 89
David's school hosted author Terry Farish tonight for a story telling event of her new book Joesph's Big Ride. Evan was really excited to get a copy of the book and enjoyed following along while she read from the story. We also heard the story in two different languages, Nepali and Kinyarwanda. It was a really cool experience and we are fortunate to have such a diverse population at our school.

365 ~ 2016: Day 83
Shenzi: "Well, well, well, Banzai, what have we got here?"
Banzai: "Hmm, I dunno, Shenzi. Whadda you think, Ed?"
Ed: "Ooh! *laughs* Ooh! *laughs*"
David nailed his character! He never practiced in front of us, so it wasn't until the first show that I got to see him in action! He was so funny and it was a proud moment for me to hear the reaction from the audience.

365 ~ 2016: Day 79
And just like that it's over! What an amazing close to show week, it was so fun to watch these kids. Here is David with his Omi, Grampy and GG who came to see him today. It was a very exciting closing to the show, one of the directors, who was due to have her baby next week went into labor last night and was unable to make the show. I received an email early this morning seeing if I would be able to assist with the soundtrack. I was excited (and nervous!) for the opportunity to learn some of what goes on behind the scenes. I arrived early and got my tutorial; took lots of notes and managed to not totally screw it up (only one minor hiccup - I cued scene change music before the scene had actually ended). Being the kind of person who aims for perfection, I was kicking myself, but it could have been so much worse and figures I would mess up on an easy one. In any case, I was happy to have been able to step in and help, the former thespian in me was totally geeking out today!

365 ~ 2016: Day 78
Another great show! He was excited to have family in the audience tonight and always appreciates the flowers he gets from his Grammy. 4 down one more to go! I'll be sad to leave the Pridelands, but I am already looking forward to next year. I am so happy that my boys are in a school district that values the arts.

365 ~ 2016: Day 77
Opening Night for Lion King, Jr.. I am in awe. There was an incredible amount of hard work that went into making this production great. Thank you to the costume and make up designers, the set builders, the directors and of course the little thespians, who have in a short 3 months, turned into these amazing characters. Break a leg and Hakuna Matata!

365 ~ 2016: Day 71
Shaun has always gotten high marks in his "creative" writing, this particular short story about Leprechauns had us in stitches!
Oh No! They're stealing gold from the bank.
We need police to stop the leprechauns.
Wait I'm a cop but still eating my donut. OK
I will just stop them. Five minutes later I did it.
